The 1972 Lamborghini Jarama 400GT

A rare model, even by Lamborghini standards, with just 177 examples made, the Jarama was a direct replacement for the Islero, as a response to US safety and emissions regulations. With an angular body, this is another excellent example of the work designed and produced in this era by Marcello Gandini, and Carrozzerria Bertone. The body lines are crisp and angular, and feature the hooded pop-up headlights and NACA ducts Gandini often favored.

This 1972 Lamborghini Jarama 400GT is the 115th example of the 177 Jaramas produced, wearing dark metallic green over a tan leather interior. This Jarama was delivered to its original owner on March 23rd, 1972, at Modena Sports Cars in New York and is currently showing 45,000 miles on the odometer.

Exterior

The exterior of this Jarama is finished in dark metallic green, with very little imperfection or issues evident. This paint is the result of a high quality refinish by Grand Prix Motors of Cambell, California, and close inspection of the pictures reveals the thoroughness of the work involved. The nose of this Jarama shows glossy paint, with no issues on the matte black valence panel below, with a clean bumper and panel fasteners evident. Side views show that the door edges suffer from no chipping, and are free from dings or imperfections.

All chrome, from the bumpers to the window trim and badges, are in very good condition with no pitting and a consistent and clean finish. The 15” center knockoff alloy wheels are original and in very good condition, as are the Pirelli P4000 Sport touring tires in 215/70-15 size.

Interior

The interior of this Jarama is finished in tan with leather seating surfaces, a black dash top, with some wood trim on the dashboard, gearknob, and steering wheel. The seats are in almost-new condition with very little evidence of use, and the leather, chrome trim, and plastic throughout the cabin are all straight and undamaged by sun or heat. All of the gauges and switchgear are operable and in excellent condition, and the interior side panels and headliner are also clean and straight.

Drive Train

The Jarama is powered by Lamborghini’s 4.0 liter, quad-cam V12, producing 350HP, running through a five-speed manual transmission. The drivetrain appears to be in original condition, and has no drivability issues or service needs.
