2000 Chevrolet Corvette by Classic Reflections Coachworks
Since the early 1990s, Lakewood, Washington’s Doug and Carolyn Graf of Classic Reflections Coachworks (CRC) have expertly combined the iconic style of the later four-headlamp first-generation Corvette with the technical prowess and performance of the modern 1997-2004 ‘C5’ generation to create a uniquely modern interpretation of the classic original design. Beginning with a show car based on a 1962 Corvette body and lengthened ‘C4’ chassis that drew awards and rave reviews on the show circuit in 1993, public demand led to the construction of a prototype for a production version.
Following its 1997 release, the new fifth-generation ‘C5’ Corvette was selected as the basis for a production version in collaboration with Boeing spinoff company REALADI, using the same scanning, 3D CAD, and reverse-engineering technologies as NASA’s Space Shuttle program to tailor the stylistic elements of the 1962 body design to the modern Corvette chassis. Bodywork is constructed of SPRINT CBS, the same composite material used for the McLaren-Mercedes SLR and by Aston Martin. The rear body section is permanently bonded to the chassis, while removable fasteners secure the rest of the bodywork to the basic ‘C5’ frame. The factory-stock hinges, wiring, and interior are retained, plus the steeply-raked ‘C5’ windshield, while bumpers and most brightwork are specially made for CRC. Engine access is a snap with a complete tilting front end, a design masterwork in its own right.
This 2000 Corvette Convertible was professionally modified and completed by the originator of the “Retro Corvette” concept, Classic Reflections Coachworks in July 2007. This vehicle is the 31st such Corvette produced. It was sold new in California and kept under original ownership until April 2007, when it was sold to Washington State with nearly 67,000 accumulated miles, followed by conversion by CRC. Provenance includes four personal owners before the current owner acquired the vehicle in May 2016. At the time of writing, the car has traveled 81,608 actual miles. As offered, this highly distinctive, classically styled 2000 Chevrolet Corvette comes with factory-issued books and tools, plus service records under the current ownership, and the aforementioned Carfax vehicle-history report. It looks great and with its classic looks, high-tech construction, and modern ‘C5’ chassis and mechanicals, it will deliver plenty of enjoyment and garner attention everywhere it goes.
Exterior
Featuring a demanding Black paint finish with dashing 1962-style Silver bodyside coves, this 2000 Chevrolet Corvette features period factory-style trim, badges, insignia, and gleaming chrome accents. Modern factory-type 5-spoke chrome wheels deliver a great look with modern low-profile performance tires. The body and paint appear sound and very well preserved since the conversion by CRC was completed.
Interior
The interior compartment features striking two-tone Black and Silver upholstery and is very attractive in presentation, consistent with careful ownership and use. In fact, the interior shows less wear than one would expect since the conversion was completed in mid-2007. Updated passenger amenities include a Pioneer touchscreen infotainment unit including GPS navigation, Bluetooth, and back-up camera/display.
Engine and Drive Train
Ample power and performance are delivered by a factory-specification 345 BHP 346 CI small-block V-8 engine, matched to a rear transaxle with original-specification automatic overdrive transmission. The powertrain is understood to be excellent, notwithstanding mileage.
Underside
The Corvette’s undercarriage and underside appear to remain in proper factory-original specification, being well maintained and preserved.
Documentation and Spares
Included with the sale of the vehicle are factory-issued books and tools, plus service records under the current ownership and a clean Carfax vehicle-history report.
