The 2009 Dodge Viper ACR
The ACR trim takes this fourth generation Viper, already a car well known for being devoid of frills or electronic safety systems, and creates an incredible street legal competition car. But while the Viper’s reputation was for simplicity, the ACR used modern technology to create their track special. Liberal use of carbon fiber for bodywork, billet aluminum suspension parts, and Stop-Tech tow-piece lightweight slotted brake rotors were some of the changes made to improve performance and feel for the ACR. With its smart and comprehensive suspension and brake upgrades, and optimized bodywork, the ACR is the Viper in its most aggressive and capable form.
This specific example, a 2009 Dodge Viper ACR, presents in like new condition having only seen 202 miles of use from new. As always with these minimal use cases, performing a complete service and inspection is important in determining that the car remains in good health, with this car benefiting from detailed care after purchase. Purchased from the original owner in May of 2019, the current owner promptly swapped all fluids, filters, belts, and hoses, while also installing new tires upon purchase.
The sale includes all original books, tools, two sets of keys, window sticker, and original delivery paperwork. The original, unmounted tires for the car also accompany the sale if the buyer desires.
The Viper ACR was one of those special models that has the potential to endure. As a driving proposition, it is a wonderful analog version of a track car, with incredible ability that rewards the driver if they commit to it. As a collector item, it makes a strong case as well, as a limited run with comprehensive revisions to earn the ACR name. This example is both well vetted and taken care of, and deserves serious consideration for any driving enthusiast that likes the experience stripped down to the essentials.
Exterior
Five colors were available for the ACR, along with a contrast stripe, and the black with red stripe seen here is OEM. The aggressive exterior changes added by the ACR package to the Viper are strictly purposeful, meant to increase downforce and manage airflow for track use, but make for a dramatic and hard-to-ignore presence. The extra aero add-ons, made of carbon fiber, include a front splitter with stainless steel tension cables for support, front canards, and the substantial adjustable rear wing. The fog lights that were standard on regular Vipers are also deleted, and forged aluminum wheels in black with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires came standard.
Interior
The interior for the ACR was mostly similar to the standard car. The seats are in black leather and suede with red stitching, and aggressive bolstering. Everything is properly functional, and suffers from no wear or fade.
Drive Train
The engine for the ACR had the same specification as all SRT-10’s, with an 8.4-liter, 512 ci V10 producing 600 hp, and 560 lb-ft. of torque. The suspension is another story, featuring KW Suspensions coil-over shocks rendered in aluminum billet, and are two-way adjustable. Brakes are upgraded to Stop-Tech two-piece slotted rotors, using Brembo calipers.
