2016 Ferrari 488 GTB

Introduced for 2015 as the successor to the 458 Italia, Ferrari’s 488 GTB raised the bar for the marque’s V-8 road cars to a totally new level in all possible respects. Firstly, power is delivered by a mid-rear mounted twin-turbo DOHC 3.9-liter V-8 engine producing an astounding 661hp – more than the outgoing 458 Speciale and 10hp more than the V-12 Enzo. An unqualified tour de force of race-derived engineering, the 488 features cutting-edge aerodynamics including a blown spoiler and rear vortex generators. Materials include 11 different aluminum alloys and other exotic metals for the super-stiff 488 chassis. Performance is spectacular, including factory-quoted numbers including 0-100mph acceleration in 3.0 seconds, the quarter-mile in 10.45 seconds, and a 205mph top end.

Already brilliant, this Rosso Corsa/Black leather 488 GTB features 13 options documented by a plaque affixed to the vehicle. It was used by Fusion Motorsports and Misha Design to develop a comprehensive line of carbon fiber accents intended for production and sale. Unfortunately, the project never came to fruition and although there are some other cars with parts of the Misha designed body kit, this is the only car to have the entire kit as designed, making it a truly unique one-off 488 GTB. The current owner purchased the vehicle in August 2018, thereby becoming the second personal owner. In 2019, Lexani Wheels, Fusion Motorsports, and the owner arranged for this 488 to be displayed at the SEMA show in Las Vegas with Lexani custom wheels mounted to the car.

Still protected by Ferrari’s 7-year factory warranty coverage, this special 2016 Ferrari 488 GTB looks fabulous, yet remains totally stock mechanically and benefits from a freshly completed annual service. Just 1,301 actual miles are indicated at time of writing. A highly optioned and truly bespoke example with its carbon fiber upgrades, this 2016 Ferrari 488 marks a thrilling find for collectors and enthusiasts on so many possible levels.

Exterior

In addition to its captivating Rosso Corsa paint finish and wide array of carbon fiber accents from the Fusion development program, this 488 is equipped with factory appearance options including iconic ‘Scuderia Ferrari’ fender shields and Yellow brake calipers. Riding on a set of stunning red-accented Lexani custom wheels, the 488 is accompanied by the factory-original 20-inch Dark Grey painted wheels and OEM-type high-performance tires. With the Fusion Motorsports Misha Designs body kit, the 488 is reminiscent of the La Ferrari in appearance.

Interior

The interior appears as-new and unmodified. Desirable original options including a carbon fiber driver zone with LED lighting, carbon fiber dash inserts, embroidered Ferrari prancing horses on the headrests, Sport door sill covers, a Red tachometer, and special Red stitching. A factory-optional parking camera is also included.

Engine and Drive Train

Powering the 488 GTB is Ferrari’s awesome 661hp, twin-turbocharged 3.9L V-8 engine with dual overhead camshafts per cylinder bank and electronic fuel injection. The vehicle also features the factory-optional ‘HELE’ (High Emotion, Low Emission) system which reduces exhaust emissions by up to 23% in city driving. The 7-speed F1 DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission includes race-derived paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The engine and engine compartment both appear as-new and unmodified, with correct OEM components, details, and finishes all present. The factory Assembly No. tag is present, matching the last 6 VIN digits, plus proper VIN, warranty, and warning decals.

Trunk and Storage Compartment

The unmodified front storage compartment appears as-new. The factory “Personalization Specifications” plaque is properly affixed to the bulkhead, listing factory-original data and options. Tools are contained in their original pouches, along with a fitted car cover in a nylon storage bag.

Documentation and Spares

Included with the sale of the vehicle are factory-issued books and tools, plus service records under the current ownership and a clean Carfax vehicle-history report.
